Lando by LivioRamondelli Lando by LivioRamondelli
Most of my Star Wars paintings tend to focus on the armored and faceless characters for a few reasons. One, it's way easier to draw a Stormtrooper than nail a likeness of Harrison Ford. But really, I also think the armored characters are just more fun to do in a visual medium.

But with this painting, I wanted to try and do a hopefully dynamic shot of one of the human characters. I chose Lando because I love Cloud City and all the great atmospherics you can play with there. The likeness here is based on some photo reference I found of the great Billy Dee Williams.

Never knew why he is never counted among the "Big 3" along with Chewie.

yea,  lando gets no love..... which is a shame because he's the luckiest card player in the universe .... how many people can claim the won a planet in a card game??? but on a side note... he never really did a whole lot on the Grand scale of things like the Big 3.

I think that's down to how they portrayed Lando. In my honest opinion he is one of the most enjoyable characters in that universe but doesn't/didn't get the chance to totally shine.

He does but I feel like he still gets relegated which is a shame. Either way, he's still our loveable scoundrel. And I still need to watch that series. Just haven't had the time to sit down and watch it. (I have to divest myself of my preconceived notions due to the Clone Wars and being upset with Disney and the Lucas folks for scrapping the EU first so I can fully enjoy the show -_- )

ah yes... i know them feelings... but its not too bad either way.  Rebels has the potential to be an interesting plot if they ever get around to giving it one outside of just training to be a jedi. But the cameos help lol... especially the lando one ;3 ... as much as i like teh clone wars, i never got over them shitting on my fav mandalore writer. >.> thats just not wat the mandos are like ya?!

I assume that it is. And yeah the setting has a TON of potential but the plot has kinda left me feeling ya know... 'eh, is that all they could come up with? MORE jedi!?" There are so many more ways to cover that part of the storyline but what're ya gonna do lol. And I heard about that issue with the Mandos. Sucks to hear that happened but she's pretty polarizing in general when it comes to the Star Wars EU however, I thought it was pretty cool how she really developed the Mandos (never read those books but did some Wookiepediaing instead). I also would have liked to have seen a very powerful and intimidating Mandalore instead of one in an identity crisis.

I understand where your're coming from it is starting to feel like alot of these are going to be about some small fry jedi in the back woods of the galaxy. Also they seem to be getting on some weird lets make Lightsabers look weird and act as un lightsaber'y as possible. The books were really good.  The only thing the show had the came close was the Death watch. .  I don't where they got the idea Mandalore needed to be some treehugger peace leader. Mandalore got turned into the GAP of starwars lol.  and it wasn't just her tho i was getting lots of vibes on how mandalorians were supposed to be from the games, comics, and so forth. I don't get why they need to go in the COMPLETE opposite direction. Star wars could get some pretty interesting storys with non jedai as well, i guess they don't like stepping out of the comfort zone there.

I absolutely love this. I love the lighting and the cape and the fact that it's a character who seems to get so little love. I would say he's one of my favorites, but they're all my favorite. :)

This is a really dramatic shot. I LOVE the character, and this really does Billy Dee justice.

Pretty awesome. Is this an illustration of the day he lost the Falcon to Han during a card game? That would explain his sad repose.
