Avatar

This was done for fun after seeing the movie. I really enjoyed the world they created and wanted to play around with it. I wanted to try my hand at a "concept art" style painting, and after seeing the "Art of Avatar" book, I studied a bit how they incorporated some real photo textues and pieces into their images.

With a little research, I found that they used real mountains from the Karst Region in China. I used a few pieces of texture from actual photos of the mountains to try to get the signature look of the floating rocks. I also put in a few pieces from one of the AMP suit toys into the suit itself, then painted and dirtied it up accordingly. This was a fun little experiment.
